Within a couple blocks of my house:

Record Grouch      Great little record shop

Polam   Nearest Polish meat market. Good place to pick up your weekly kielbasa

Papacito’s     Great tacos. 3 for $7.

Corner Frenzy    My local Laundromat, with $1.50 empanadas

La Taverna   a small restaurant that serves Italian food. They have $10 bottles of wine!

Pio Pio Riko   Peruvian Restaurant – The combo Limeno is a ton of food for two or three people

Fresh Stop  Local fruit and vegetable place – They also have a lot of Japanese snacks

The Habitat      Restaurant with fancy beer. I often go for 35-cent wings on Tuesday night.

Mark Bar      The local bar. Free coffee and bagels on the weekend.

Ott Thai        Nearest Thai Restaurant

Franklin Corner Store        Good pressed sandwiches

Salvation Army   The local Salvation army thrift store

Triangolo    The nearest pizzeria on Manhattan Ave.

Pentatonic Music     Nearby music store. A good place to go if you want to buy a guitar

Permanent Records    Another nice record shop. I prefer Record Grouch, but this is a good one to go to afterwards.

Beata Delicatessen   A good place to get a sandwich.

The Thing   Junk store with all kinds of stuff. The basement has many, many thousands of records (mostly ones that nobody would want), but there are sometimes decent ones out front.

Manhattan Deli Corp.  Nearest Corner Deli. A good place to get a falafel, shawarma, breakfast sandwich, or hero.

World of Flowers       For all your floral needs

Green Leaves     Best of the four Chinese restaurants within two blocks of me

Cafecito Bogota     A good place to go for a Saturday afternoon breakfast

Lobster Joint  $1 Oysters on weekdays from 4 - 7

Casanova   Italian place nearby on McGuinness. I like the Casanova Sandwich (No. 7 on the specialty sandwiches part of the menu

Rzeszowka Bakery
Polish Bakery. The cabbage Danish is pretty awesome

Other noteworthy Greenpoint establishments that are located a little farther away

Karczma   Great Polish restaurant. The grill plate for three has an insane amount of meat.

Paulie Gee’s    Great upscale pizza joint. I especially like the pizzas with hot honey and sausage (The Hellboy and the Hellified Porkpie White)

Krolewskie Jadlo    Probably my favorite Polish restaurant in Greenpoint other than Karczma. The one with the knights out front.

Acapulco     Great Mexican diner

Newtown Creek Nature Walk         A very interesting experience

No. 7 Sub     Delicious and interesting subs. I don’t usually like to spend $9 for a sandwich, but when I do I come here.

Lulu’s   A free pizza with every beer. I usually get the $3 Miller High Life (Champagne of Beers) or the $5 Low Life (A Miller High Life and a Shot of Whiskey)

Dijifi    A great, small digitization studio. I had them transfer my grandparents wedding film to dvd a few years ago. They did it much faster and cheaper than other places were willing to. They were also very friendly, and a young lady working there recognized me from my Banana Song youtube video.

Uncle Louie G’s       Great Italian ice

Five Leaves           Best burgers in Greenpoint.

Waste Water Treatment Plant      Iconic Architecture

Chinese Musician  Best Chinese restaurant in Greenpoint. I especially like their house recommendation: The sautéed filet of fish, with garlic sauce

Steve’s Meat Market     Best place to get kielbasa in Greenpoint. And, if I understand correctly, that makes it one of the best places to get kielbasa in the United States.

Peter Pan Donut and Pastry Shop    Great donut shop. Huge, delicious cinnamon buns!

East River Ferry     Water transportation to and from Manhattan. The India Street terminal is nearby

Calexico   Delicious burritos
